“Human right pan-toh” is a practice that has come out of the blue. In 2015, It derived from experiences of a political victim who suffered from White Terror. Due to rejection of the society, surveillance and segregation of political power, he was forced to wander at the street for almost three years. After listening to this story, we can’t help but thinking that when a person wanders at the street, he has multiple identities. He could be a political victim, an exploited worker……and he is the same as us. All of us are human beings. He has his own story, his own life, including presence, past, and future.
At the day of “human right pan-toh,” signature dishes are brought out by those who used to be the homeless and political victims. When Stir-fried cabbage with bacon was served, a homeless person said to others: “Hey! That’s made by our own buddy.”
In a bone-chilling winter night, that brought a sense of warmth to our hearts and stomachs. The homeless and political victims, whom seem to be no connection to each other, are suffering, or used to suffer from unfriendliness and segregation of this society.
“Human right pan-toh” is dedicated to interacting with different groups, trying to build a bridge between us and the society. We not only want to increase the visibility of social phenomena, but also hope to break up social status and eliminate labeling. Through inquiring life experiences of individuals and groups, “human right pan-toh” does it step by step. We are eager to bring about more interactions and echoes, opening the door toward a future of liberty and equality.
