Actor Yao Chun-Yao, now 34 years old, has a muscular body and a cute puppy face. His first leading role was in the film Au Revoir Taipei, thanks to which he successfully entered the showbiz with his superb acting skills. Yao Chun-Yao has starred in various dramas and he is not afraid to try out different roles. He has quickly gained a huge fanbase, thanks to his charm and polyvalency. He recently challenged himself to star in the BDSM short film Military Dog, where he turned into a loyal human dog slave who obeys his master’s harsh orders, lays all naked on the floor, and becomes a military dog in the barrack at night.

Yao Chun-Yao graduated from the theater department of the Taipei National University of the Arts. He focused on acting and appeared in many well-known films at a very young age but most people know about Yao Chun-Yao because of Au Revoir Taipei. During casting, director Arvin Chen praised Yao Chun-Yao for his simple, persistent, and straightforward character and considered him the best choice for the leading role.

After many years, Yao Chun-Yao once again brought another stellar  performance to the silver screen with Military Dog, which was adapted from a BDSM hit novel of the same name. The story follows Lee Jun-Zhong, a soldier with a masochistic tendency, and his master, whom he meets on the internet. The two share a twisted and yet heart-wrenching relationship until one day, the “Master” leaves him without saying goodbye. Lee Jun-Zhong then meets a girl and starts a platonic relationship with her. However, Lee Jun-Zhong still cannot forget about his master, and his internal battle struggle surfaces.

In one interview, Yao Chun-Yao said that when he first saw the script, he was quite shocked. In order to interpret the role well and to understand BDSM culture, he not only browsed relevant information on PTT but also talked with the director and several BDSM groups. Yao Chun-Yao also mentioned that Taiwan's outstanding progress in gender equality offered a great opportunity for him to explore more sensitive topics such as S&M. In addition to speaking for sexual minorities, Yao Chun-Yao also hopes that more people in Taiwan can understand and cherish the freedom in Taiwan's society nowadays.
