Taiwan Equals Love chronicles Taiwan’s fight for equal marital rights from 2016 to 2019, as it explores three different generations of love from same-sex couples' perspectives. Among them there is this couple who have been together for 35 years. What kind of difficulties have they faced on their journey towards same-sex marriage?

Tien-Ming Wang and Ho Hsian met at a gay bar. For Wang, Ho was love at first sight. He asked him to come sit with him, and sit he did, for the two then started a relationship that has lasted for over 30 years. However, Ho’s health has deteriorated lately and Wang needs to take care of his diet, daily routine and medication.
Ho Hsian had married before but never managed to come out to the son he had with his ex-wife. It wasn’t until when the couple realized that their time might be near that Wang decided to come out to Ho Hsian’s son. At the same time, Wang also realized that that should one of them suddenly die the other wouldn't be able to claim the insurance or arrange his loved one's funeral.

For Tien-Ming Wang and Ho Hsian, their marriage has already lasted for 35 years. The two wish for each other to be heathy and make more friends. In Taiwan Equals Love, we see that the they have been participants of LGBT social movements for many years, and care deeply about the next generation of LGBT people, as they walk along with youngsters on the street, rainbow banners at hand, fighting for equal rights and showing the community what gay people need. They have taught us, once again, the age-old lesson: everyone is equal before love.
